Personally, November is one of my absolute favorite times of year to travel. Many of the world’s most iconic destinations hit their peak right now. While most people flock to Europe in the summer, I’ll let you in on a secret: I actually prefer the autumn. Everything feels fresh, crisp, and the changing colors make every photo look like a postcard.
In November, prices in the Northern Hemisphere plummet as the “shoulder season” kicks in, while many tropical destinations begin their peak season as hurricane risks fade. Whether you want festive vibes or a final hit of summer sun, here is my 2026 list of the 19 best places to go in November.

Iconic City Escapes
1. New York, USA
Average Temperature: 10°C
New York is magical in November. Depending on when you visit, you’ll catch the tail end of the gorgeous Central Park foliage, the world-famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, or the very beginning of the Christmas season. It’s the ultimate month for crisp autumn strolls.
2. San Francisco, USA
Average Temperature: 16°C
Between September and November is widely considered the best time to visit SF. The weather is actually warmer and significantly less foggy than in the summer months. It’s the perfect time to walk the Golden Gate Bridge or take a boat trip to Alcatraz without the peak-season crowds.
Where is it Warm in November?
If you aren’t ready to let go of summer, these destinations offer balmy temperatures well into the late autumn.

| Malta | 18°C | Historic Rabat is stunning; weather stays toasty through Dec. |
| Cyprus | 20°C | Underrated blend of Greek and Turkish culture. |
| Canary Islands | 20°C | Year-round sunshine; 7 unique volcanic islands to explore. |
| Marrakesh | 22°C | Escape the summer heat; perfect for exploring the souks. |
| Florida | 24°C | Lower humidity and much smaller crowds at theme parks. |
European Autumn Gems
3. Edinburgh, UK
Average Temperature: 8°C
Expect moody vibes and rainy streets—but that’s part of the charm! There is nothing like a warm Scottish cafe after a hike up Arthur’s Seat. The rain adds a layer of mystery to the historic cobblestones of the Royal Mile.
4. Athens, Greece
Average Temperature: 16°C
Athens in November is perfect for history lovers. You can climb to the top of Mount Lycabettus without breaking a sweat, and the Parthenon has half the crowds compared to July.
5. Iceland
Average Temperature: 3°C
November is the best of both worlds in Iceland. You get enough daylight to explore the waterfalls, but the nights are dark enough to provide a high chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis. Always check the Icelandic Northern Lights Forecast before heading out!

6. Chiang Mai, Thailand
Average Temperature: 28°C
November is home to the infamous Loy Krathong (Lantern Festival). Watching thousands of lanterns float into the sky is a true bucket-list experience. It’s also the start of the dry season, making it perfect for temple hopping.
7. Luxor, Egypt
Average Temperature: 27°C
While everyone flocks to Cairo, Luxor is where the real engineering marvels live. The Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple are mind-blowing. In November, the desert air is cool enough to explore comfortably.
8. Mexico City, Mexico
Average Temperature: 24°C
You cannot miss the UNESCO-recognized Day of the Dead celebrations at the beginning of the month. The city comes alive with marigolds, altars, and incredible parades.
